  • Dead Horse Point Vistor Center Sunset

Dead Horse Point Vistor Center Sunset

The sunsets in the deserts of Utah are vast. Utah carries a stillness in it both during the day and at night, but the transition during dusk seems to be suspended for many moments longer. The moon becomes visible much earlier than the sun sets and the world takes a breath.

  • Deadhorse Point Milkyway

    Deadhorse Point Milkyway

Imagine walking around in pitch black. There is no moon out so the stars shine bright, but not enough to illuminate the landscape ahead of you. So you see quite the contrast of stars above over a sea of blackness. Beyond this tree there is a steep drop off into the canyon lands stretching for miles and miles. Flowing through this canyon now shrouded in black it the Colorado River. It is interesting how during the day our gaze would be guided downward into the canyon, but during the night it is the sky steals our attention despite the dramatic landscape below our very noses.

  • Deadhorse Point Vistor Center

    Deadhorse Point Vistor Center

The view from the Deadhorse Point visitor center is breath taking. It really sets the stage for the rest of the park in a big way. The contrast of the mountains in the background to the canyons below one can almost see where an ocean might have been in the early years of the Earth.

  • Deadhorse Spire

    Deadhorse Spire

This is such a cool rock feature and definitely sets the stage for the visitor center at Deadhorse Point. The Earth's geography has a way of inspiring and peaking our curiosity. Years back it would be hard to imagine the wind helped shape this feature.

  • Deadhorse Point

    Deadhorse Point

Deadhorse Point is reminiscent of the Grand Canyon in a lot of ways. Canyon lands stretching as far as the eye can see. It is amazing to think that wind and water are the main factors of forming of these rock faces. All you can say when you look out over the cliff is WOW.

  • Colorado River - Utah

    Colorado River - Utah

The mighty Colorado River winds its way through the canyon lands at Deadhorse Point, Utah. This world we live on truly is an amazing thing. Water is precious here in the desert as you can tell by the contrast of green the river's edge.

  • Desert Roads

    Desert Roads

Humans really have made it everywhere. Even in the most remote places you will see signs of people's interaction with the world. Here in the canyonlands we see dirt roads winding through an otherwise uninhabital area if not for the Colorado River being near by.

  • Living on the Edge

    Living on the Edge

There are plenty of places to live on the edge in the Deadhorse Point wilderness. Cliffs abound and views so breath taking it is worth putting up with the heat!

  • Delicate Arch

    Delicate Arch

Delicate arch is on of the most popular arches inside of Arches National Park. Just a short hike from the trail head it is well worth it! Though start early in the morning as the crowds come first thing in the morning and parking is limited. Such an awesome feature!

  • Delicate Arch - Through the Arch

Delicate Arch - Through the Arch

Delicate Arch is a window from which you can look through to the mountains in the distance. This is Arches National Park's most famous Arch and rightly so. It is the the only one that is free standing. It boggles my mind to think how this was shaped over the years!

  • Arches National Park

    Arches National Park

I could not believe just how red the rock formations were inside of Arches National Park. Such a rich terrain and diverse! Here we have prairie and a strech of cliffs overlooking. To the right you will see another arch just a short hike from here.

  • Slot Canyon - Arches

    Slot Canyon - Arches

There aren't a lot of slot canyons inside of Arches National Park but this one here was just as special. Prior to this area is an open sandy area. The temprature is so much cooler in here than that of the surrounding area. Makes you want to kick back llike you are on a beach and take a nap.

  • Arches Desert

    Arches Desert

It is HOT here! Nonetheless, there are great views in a place that reminds us important water is. Arches National Park has something to see around every corner and I am gad I had the opportunity to visit.

  • Inside Arches National

    Inside Arches National

These are some of the other sights inside Arches National Park. The rock here is so red! How did all of these free standing rocks come to be?
